Vabu OSThe infrastructure for live experiences in Africa

One API for events, fans, commerce, streaming, messaging and payments. Use one product or all of them. Bring your own login and payments, or use ours.

Who it is for

Vabu OS is for the people who build and run live experiences: a nightlife app that streams its DJs, a church that streams its services, a sports league that sells match passes, an events company that sells tickets and sends reminders. If your product has a crowd, a ticket, a stream or a fan, there is a piece here for it.

Bring your own login and payments, or use ours

You choose how much of the platform to take.

  • Keep your own login. Your server tells Vabu who is signed in, with a short token. Or use Vabu ID, with phone codes on WhatsApp and SMS, email links and Google.
  • Keep your own payments. For streams, you take payment your way and make one call to give the customer access. For tickets and shop orders, Vabu's checkout takes M-Pesa and cards.
  • Use it all. Login, payments and every product on one set of keys, with one customer across them.

The products work together

A ticket sale earns fan points. A check-in earns more. A message brings people back. A stream reaches the people who could not come. Every interaction is an event your server can hear about, so one product feeds the next. See how the products work together.

Start building

  1. Get a test key. Test keys come with every tenant from the first minute.
  2. Make your first request. Copy a snippet in curl, TypeScript, PHP, Python or Go.
  3. Pick a product. Read what it does and which calls exist today.
  4. Streaming? Try the Streams quickstart. Create a live stream, give a customer access and play it in about twenty minutes.
  5. Switch to live keys when your test run works. The API reference lists every endpoint.

Features that are not in the API yet are listed on What's coming.
